Is a New Turok Game in Development?

Turok

The iconic dinosaur-hunting franchise, Turok, might be primed for a return. Rumors have sparked after a leak from the Epic Games Store database seemingly revealed a new Turok game in development by Saber Interactive. This news has ignited excitement amongst fans who have been waiting for a new entry in the series for over a decade.

Turok first roared onto the scene in 1997 on the Nintendo 64. The fast-paced first-person shooter transported players to a realm full of ferocious dinosaurs and advanced weaponry. The game became a critical and commercial success. A sequel, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, followed in 1998, further expanding the lore and introducing new gameplay mechanics.

While several follow-up titles were released in the early 2000s, the franchise went dormant after 2008’s Turok. However, the series received a resurgence in remastering the original games for modern platforms, including a recent physical release for the Nintendo Switch in June 2024.

Whether this leak translates to a full-fledged revival or a remake of the original title remains to be seen. Regardless, the rumors have undoubtedly awakened a sense of nostalgia amongst Turok fans. While Saber Interactive has yet to confirm the project officially, one thing is certain: gamers are eager to see if Turok is poised for a triumphant return to the realm of dinosaur hunting.
