Now is the season of big and colorful games, and maybe small titles like Gravity Chase are less noticed. Especially since Need For Speed Unbound has recently been released, and it’s a great product. However, Gravity Chase is a fair indie title that can satisfy those who are thirsty for an anti-gravity arcade racer.

Of course, this game has nothing to do with the real world and its cars are more like the Wipeout game series. Here you have a limited number of strange spaceships that have some futuristic sci-fi design styles similar to the Wipeout series. unfortunately, they don’t have enough graphic details.

The terrain layout is dull

Those uninteresting graphics has plagued the entire game. That is, apart from the vehicles, the race tracks, and their surroundings, they are not going to captivate you with their visual appeal too. Everything is simple and made like a small game. But this simplicity cannot be necessarily criticized because you have to understand the scale of the project of making such an indie game. Though be sure that you will not go to choose Gravity Chase because of its looks.

However, In the art field, music is good. Music tracks with high tempos are played throughout the game, which matches the fast pace of the game. Sadly, there are not many of them, and they become repetitive soon. Fortunately, you can stop the music playing during the races and skip a song that you are tired of.

In terms of gameplay, the game is acceptable to some extent, but it has no new ideas at all. Your vehicles are all upgradeable by winning races and earning money. Each of them is different in attributes. Their difference is also really felt. Especially for handling, that is crucial to choose the right one according to the turns of a track. But, the personalization of their appearance is limited, and you can only pick a few colors for the skin of your car.

There is split-screen multiplayer, but no online play

There are few race tracks, and the maps are similar to many other games. Many of them also are rotating tracks. That is, you often move either on a cylinder or inside it. This causes numerous 360-degree rotations around the cylinder, which may cause dizziness and nausea for some!

You have only three game modes and three difficulty levels to deal with. The rules of those three game modes are slightly different, but they do not add much variety to the game. Also, a few obstacles and power items are scattered on each track. These conditions cause the game to become completely repetitive after a few hours, despite the little number of tracks.

In general, we can say Gravity Chase suffers from a shortage. It means that the core of the game is good, but it is weak in the number of music, different game modes, the number of race tracks, etc. However, if you love the formula of such a game, maybe this $12 title could be suitable for you.
