Coral Island Early Access Preview

Coral Island is a farming simulation game that is currently in early access. Therefore we do not criticize the game and do not rate it. Rather, we examine its features and introduce them to you. If you like the game you can at least get it for PC to support the developer. But the console versions are not available at the moment and you have to wait until the release of version 1.0.

Coral Island is mostly about farming, but not like the Farming Simulator series. It’s more arcade and is not difficult to play. The game is very similar to the Harvest Moon series. However, newer gamers might compare it to Stardew Valley. Yet, it must be admitted that many farming simulator games are similar to each other. Nevertheless, Coral Island has been able to separate itself from its rivals to a large extent with the help of its graphics and atmosphere. The gameplay is very familiar, but the visuals and story are unique.

In Coral Island, you again play the role of a young person who leaves a big city and turns to farm life in a small town. This town is full of diverse and warm characters who quickly embrace you as a new member of their community and help you to achieve your goals. The interesting thing here is a central plot that is related to environmental concerns. The island is struggling with an arrogant oil company. This company harming the environment and people’s health in search of more profit, and you have to deal with it. The existence of an important story in a happy and entertaining game is appreciated and interesting.

Coral Island’s gameplay, as we said, is similar to many other farm sim titles. Especially if you have played Stardew Valley, you are familiar with gameplay mechanics. But you can find some differences here and there. The first is character creation. When you start a new game, you have several options to customize your gender, skin color, body type, facial features, etc. Of course, there are not many options in this department at the moment.

During the game, as you can guess, you collect resources and farm in your territory. The land at your disposal is large and you can plant all kinds of seeds and build the required buildings. You must plant, water, and harvest. Visiting mines and collecting resources, and even fighting small creatures are included too, although the fights are easy and boil down to simple hit and run. One of the notable features of the game is the ability to sweep and clean the sea floor. In this section, you can clean the sea environment from garbage and even talk to a mermaid! Yes, the game has fantasy elements.

Communicating with people, making friends with them, and establishing romantic relationships are one of the constants of this type of game, which is also present in Coral Island. The island you live on is full of houses, shops, and different people. You will spend a lot of time exploring the town, talking to people, and buying and selling items. Especially since interesting festivals and mini-games are also planned for you to participate in.

Overall, this game is a standard arcade farming simulator in terms of gameplay, which implements all the expected elements in a very nice way. However, if you go to the game now, you should lower your expectations because, as mentioned, the game is in early access. That is, from game options to some gameplay and story elements that are not yet included in the game. Some parts of the island look empty and bugs and some lack of animations are visible.

Coral Island is an evolving game and is getting better and more enjoyable with frequent quality-of-life updates. But what seemed unique and stunning from is its graphics. The game is made with Unreal Engine 4 and has very pleasant cartoonish visuals. So that staring at the game for hours will not tire you so easily. Although the game follows a small town that has financial and environmental crises, everything is designed beautifully and luxuriously. Even citizen 2D pictures have flawless and attractive art. It seems that the developers have kept in mind the visual appeal rules of Disney animations and followed them to the letter.

In general, even in early access, Coral Island has appeared better than many farming simulator games, but if you are looking for a complete and perfect experience, you still have to be patient.
