Citizen Sleeper is a science fiction tabletop role-playing game. It is similar to titles like Disco Elysium, but it has a somewhat different theme and gameplay. You should know it is not for every audience. Citizen Sleeper can be considered an interactive novel or an interactive comic strip. On the other hand, the game was made by a one-person studio with the help of two additional people for music and visuals. This makes the game very limited.
The story of Citizen Sleeper takes place in a distant future where long space travels and advanced artificial intelligence have become the norm. At the beginning of the game, you choose one of the three sleepers who have different abilities. Sleepers are robots in which the intelligence of a real and living person has been copied. They have the task of managing the space station, which you have to protect from danger during the game.

According to its creators, the game is about the lives of ordinary citizens who have to survive in a capitalist world. The game’s developer wanted to depict the efforts of ordinary people to survive, unlike big science fiction games like Mass Effect. Therefore, you are not going to save the world in this game. Rather, you must try to survive yourself and others who are on the ship to reach their destination safely.
This game has more story than gameplay, which is because of its genre. The gameplay is very narrow and you can’t even see the avatar that you have chosen at the beginning of the game. Rather, you can only look around the ship in a restricted way and select different parts of it. The game consists of day cycles. Every day you roll dice, and based on that, tasks are assigned to you, such as upgrading or repairing a certain part of the spaceship. If you want to enjoy this game, you must love reading texts.
This game consists of infinite lines of dialogue and storytelling! That is, you just have to read and read and sometimes make decisions about the words of other characters or story events. Of course, when it comes to choosing, it means that the game has several different endings, some of which will not be to your liking.

The texts are sometimes difficult and words are used that even native English people are unable to understand. Anyway, it is natural that when someone makes a game like this, there may be mistakes in some areas. I just wish the game would reduce the text display a bit and add to the gameplay. As we said before, this makes the game have a select audience and it cannot be recommended even to those who like regular role-playing games.
Citizen Sleeper is almost empty in terms of sounds. Of course, you will hear good atmospheric music, but no one is making a sound. The 2D character models are comic strip-like, detailed, and creative. However, the 3D model of the spaceship is nothing special. This game is artistically restricted too, but it is good for a small developer. The game was originally released last year, but the PlayStation console’s ports were released about a month ago. Due to the simplicity of the game’s graphics, there is no significant performance difference in all the platforms the game was released to.
You can buy Citizen Sleeper for 20 dollars but remember because the game is a one-year-old product time you may get it at a discounted price. We insist you should pay attention to the game genre and not be confused by its critic’s praises.
