Classic Racers Elite seems like a generic racing game with nothing new. Of course, provided that you don’t play the game on Nintendo Switch. The powerful platforms of the market are full of similar games of much higher quality, which are essential for those who are interested in such titles. But the Switch has always been less interesting in the field of racing games, except for carting ones. So, at the very beginning of the article, we claim that Classic Racers Elite is valuable only on Nintendo Switch only, and we have also experienced the game on this platform.

Classic Racers Elite does not have a story at all, which is not necessarily a bad thing. As soon as you enter the game, you are faced with an unadorned user interface that only calls you to two game modes, Free Run and Championship. Unfortunately, Free Run, contrary to its name, is not that free, and you have to complete the main races so that all the tracks and cars in this section are available to you. Also, there is no online mode for the game. The sole online feature is the leaderboard, so you may find an incentive to play races multiple times.

There is four class of cars in the game

Championship mode includes twelve events, each of which contains several tracks that you must compete in. Each event lets you choose from some cars and change their color among a few options. The number of cars is small, just like racing tracks. Sadly these cars are not licensed and only designed to resemble real-world classic cars. We cannot expect much from an independent game. Because licensing cars and race tracks are so expensive. But I wish that now that the cars in this game are fictional, their number and variety would be increased.

Another problem with cars is that, even though they are different in terms of handling and speed, the game does not show them by traditional bars, so you cannot choose your favorite car easily. There is only a description for each car, which is not that useful. Fortunately, the control of cars is smooth, although they do not have real physics. Some are not reliable at all against accidents or turns.

Classic Racers Elite
Empty new world

Racing tracks are not numerous, but considering that they are used in reverse too, they have an acceptable variety. All matches are time trials. That means you are not competing with any AI competitors. You just have to reach the finish line before your time runs out. These predetermined times are sometimes stringent, and only one crash or resetting car results in failure. Also, the car reset button often does not return you to the road correctly, and you have to drive back or turn around to get back to the main road.

Technically, the game is below average for the Nintendo Switch. I mean, we have seen games like Asphalt 9: Legends on Switch, which is much more crowded and with more realistic physics, but it also shows beautiful visuals. But Classic Racer Elite, even though it has empty racing tracks and there are no car chases, explosions, etc., does not look decent. Only car designs can be somewhat satisfying. The game also has frame drops and cannot have a stable performance.

As we mentioned in the first paragraph, this game on Switch may be somewhat satisfying for racing enthusiasts. But if you have other platforms like Xbox Series X|S, it’s better to save money to buy the next Forza than buy a flawed game for 30 dollars.
