Krut is originally a Thai 3D animated film that came out in 2018 and received a cold reception. Now, after all these years, a small game is released based on it. This game developed by several small studios does not grab the attention simply like its movie.
Krut is a 2D action but has a 3D environment and characters. The game is based on a simple story, but the story narration is in the form of silent dialogues and texts along with some not-so-great paintings. Naturally, this muted narration does not help to improve the story at all. In addition, Thailand myths may be too unfamiliar for many audiences, and the game does not assist the player in this regard.
In Krut, the classic combination of light and heavy hits system and the famous square, square, and triangle are used. The gamer has a few power attacks and of course, evade ability to escape from enemies. Whether regular enemies or mini-bosses and even the main bosses of each of the six stages of the game are nothing memorable and exciting.

Standard enemies have unadorned appearances and may be annoying and the bosses despite the epic design, have limited actions. Fighting usual enemies is not always necessary. You can skip them but you need to kill them to upgrade the main character and unlock checkpoints.
The levels and the powers of the game’s hero have a lot of potentials but the problem is, that there is almost no investment in platforming or puzzle design. That is why the game has nearly no other notable mechanics except its combat system. Eventually, you see yourself with a product where you must run to the left and right more than anything else. Remember, walking a plain ground is not gameplay.
For the art of Krut, we say the only strong point is its environmental 3D graphics, which are above expectations for a 10$ game. The music is not bad too, but you can’t find anything to memorize.
For all said reasons, we do not recommend Krut to anyone, except maybe some fans of the movie we mentioned before.
