Top AA Games (Part I)

AA games are titles produced and released with a lower budget than blockbusters. These games may even be developed by independent studios but have the support of larger publishers. However, these games usually have a smaller scale than AAA games. Nowadays, when games have become more expensive, it is easy to distinguish these games. They are often not like the small, completely independent works of twenty dollars, nor do the seventy dollars price.

In this article, we will introduce you to some of such games that are very good in their way. There are many AA games out there; Therefore, we probably publish at least two more parts of this article. Note that if a series of games have several entries, we name the one we think is the best. Also, if a studio has produced several similar games, we have again tried to introduce the one we have played and enjoyed the most.

Evil West

This game was released recently and has been able to meet expectations to an acceptable extent. An old-school third-person shooter that brings the feeling of games from the 7th generation game era to life. When Gears of War made a lot of noise, many tried to produce similar works. The game has a half-science fiction and half-fantasy theme. You fight vampires and evil creatures in the Wild West. The levels are linear, and you will mostly shoot rather than explore. Although Evil West has flaws in graphic optimization and creating variety, it is a valuable work.

Sonic Frontiers

The latest version of the Sonic series is considered the launch pad for this series. It seems that the creators have tried to implement all their ideas, Even in sound design and music tracks, to see which feedback they get. The result is a fast and exciting action platformer, but many bugs and some boring elements will hurt your experience sometimes. However, a new Sonic with an open-world formula similar to the Legend of Zelda series is a unique experience. Sonic games have never had big budgets and long production times, so a few weaknesses are tolerable for this title.

A Plague Tale: Requiem

Requiem is the second part of the A Plague Tale series. It was released recently and managed to please the fans again. This part is a next-generation experience with beautiful graphics, especially in displaying landscapes. The gameplay is reacher than the previous version. Now you have additional skills, and the environment allows you to maneuver more. Of course, this has a much sad and darker story than the previous game.

It Takes Two

It Takes Two was the game of the year at The Game Awards 2021. The story is about marital relations, love, respect, and parenting. The co-op gameplay is brilliant, and the mechanics and puzzles based on two-player cooperation are amazing. But the element of the story and its theme may be the main reason for the success of It Takes Two.

Psychonauts 2

Psychonauts was well-received by critics during the PS2 console era. Unfortunately, the public did not buy it considerably. But the second game was developed and released with the financial support of old fans and Microsoft. The second game is a much better one in every field. Especially since the technical progress of the consoles has left the developer’s hands open for all kinds of creativity. If you like exploring and finding hidden things, this game is definitely for you. Of course, the psychological story and the puzzles designs have shined between AA games.
